Hello, Iām Elainy Lopez an artist and art educator based in Dallas, Texas. Growing up, art was my favorite pastime. I found joy in trying new crayons and creating scenes from my imagination. As I got older it opened a large door that led me to new ideas, forms of expression, and learning about the world around me. It became my language of exploration. My art practice explores the connection between nature and humans. I enjoy capturing the everyday beauty and wonders of nature that I see around me. As an artist, I enjoy learning about different types of art materials and art processes. In my art practice I work primarily in printmaking (reduction woodcut is one of my favorite processes), and watercolor. I have recently started exploring tapestry weaving and plan on learning stained glass making.
As an art educator, I want to provide students with positive artistic experiences like the ones I had. I want to help my students see art as an activity they can all engage with whether they think they are good at it or not. I want to help them see art as a tool for expressing themselves, exploring the world around them, and developing their thoughts and ideas. As an art educator, I want to present art as something students can practice throughout the rest of their life.
